THE INTERVIEW
Your songs sound like intensive
Garage withs a punch of Punk and Rock. A
great mix of styles that results on the sound of your music now. So, what
really are your musical influences?
The first bands that influenced us were the Ramones, The Fleshtones, The
Sonics, The Plimsouls The Cramps… you always remember the first albums you
bought and the first concerts you saw. I saw the Fleshtones , Johnny Thunders,
The Ramones, The Lords of the New Church, The Cramps when I was starting to
listen to Rock’n’roll and you can’t forget it, it’s in your blood forever. Most
recently we enjoyed very much The Jim Jones Revue, Lords of Altamont, The
Bellrays, Capsula…we played with Capsula a few months ago, great people, and are playing with Lords of Altamont in
October. Also check out our friends The Plastic Invaders (Closer records),
great band and a lot of fun!!!
You edited your last LP titled
“Heartbreaker Pitshark Records "
in December 2016. What do you expect from this album? Why you have titled the
album with this name?
We really enjoyed recording the album with Lo Spider (Destination
Lonely, Jerry Spider Gang…) at his swampland recording studios. He has a great
ear for little bits of guitars and sounds that make the songs sound better and
all sorts of special effects for vocals and amazing homemade fuzz pedals and all sorts of vintage guitare
amps. And he’s also a good laugh 😊 a great guy to work with. The title of the album is a
tribute to Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers and their great LAMF album ,
the name of the band Bad Ass Mother Fuzzers is also inspired by them 😉 with
this album we would like to be able to make our music known and hopefully play
gigs abroad especially in Spain, a country where people love Garage rock.
How is one of your live
concerts? What do we will see and enjoy in them?
I don’t know you need to ask people who come and see us 😉 we
try to bring a lot of energy and fun, we don’t take ourselves seriously, we are
there to have a good time just like the audience. We played in The USA in
February and we love the way American bands enjoy playing live and how they
give everything all the time. We played with The Real Kids in Boston and with
Muck and The Mires , a great bunch of people who set up the gig for us and lent
us their equipment, very nice people who are putting on a great show all the time. We also enjoyed
playing with The Other Men and Party Lights in New York , great bands and great
people as well as The Ratz in New Haven (CT). all these bands give everything
they’ve got , they enjoy playing live and entertain people and that’s what we
want to do.
What are your plans for this year
2017 and next 2018? We assume that you will touring around clubs and festivals.
Can you advance anything to us? Any important event?
Yes as I said the big thing for
us was our little US tour in February and we would love to go back there at
some point. While we were there we recorded our next single in Hoboken with Tom
Beaujour who worked with Nada Surf and Juliana Hatfield among others and we would love to record our next album
there. We would love to tour in Spain, Sweden…we really like the Swedish band
The Curse who are on the same label as us, Pitshark Records, and hopefully play with them; we are really
looking forward to play with Lords of Altamont in October. We are open to any
offers to play gigs and Festivals anywhere 😉
Do you think the digital world
will end with music as we know it today? What do you think is the future of
music?
No I think it’s a great way to make your music accessible as it’s easy
for people to discover your music. Albums are a way to get your music known and
to play more concerts. But we love Vinyl
and Pitshark records has put our album out in vinyl in May. It’s much
more enjoyable to have a great objet, with a great nice cover in your hands
than listening to digital music on your computer, and the sound is 100 times
better!
What is your best memory about
music?
The first gigs I saw, The Fleshtones, Johnny Thunders, the
Barracudas…discovering great bands like The Doors when I was 15/16 in High
School. We used to exchange tapes with friends and it was a great way to
discover lots of bands. Seeing the Fleshtones in New York when I was 20 , being
invited backstage at the Lone Star Café and to Keith Streng’s Birthday party ,
drinking their famous Blue whale cocktail that was something! Seeing the Gun
Club, Lords of the New Church live, discovering The Clash, The Ramones, The
Undertones…all those great bands it was amazing!!!
How is a normal day in the
life of a member of Badass Mother Fuzzers?
We all have families and we have
all got jobs it’s a pretty normal life 😉 But it’s great to go to rehearsals on Friday , have a
laugh, play some music, make up new songs, and we love playing live!!!
What do you think about the
current economic and social situation in Spain, France, Europe and World in
general?
Making a living and supporting your family isn’t easy for everyone at the moment, it’s
also not nice to see what’s happening in the World, I don’t like my kids to see
that on TV and it’s hard to feel safe anymore. That’s why music is a great way
to forget about it and to have a good time, to meet nice people and to share
your passions with them.
