The Warlocks - Songs from the Pale Eclipse (2016). Entrevista a Bobby Hecksher

THE INTERVIEW

The songs of The Warlocks sounds like an elegant Rock and sophisticated Pop with Psychedelic Music and Shoegaze. A mix of styles that results on the personal sound of your music. But, what are really your musical influences?
I like a lot of different kinds of music. Rock and roll, goth, shoegaze. Not a big fan of classical or jazz so that's out.

This year will mark 15 years since you edited your first LP "Rise and Fall" in 2001. What is the difference between the music of The Warlocks today and your music 15 years ago?
Well we are constantly evolving and changing as musicians and people. Early warlocks music is velvet inspired 60s experimental rock. We did that few a records and then went more jammy and heavy. Some records came out poppy others dark and gloomy. So I guess you could say we are all over the place!

What's your inspiration when making your songs?
Most of our songs are about people.

Are you completed your expectations with your last album “Songs from the Pale Eclipse”? What do you expect from this album?
I don't expect anything. It was a completion of a decade of demos and unused songs from 8tracks I had laying around. It feels like the circle is complete kind of thing. Now I can move on and try something else. Will see.

What do we will see and enjoy in your live concerts?
Well it depends on the show and people. Always going for An experience. Wall of sounds lights show rock and roll.

Is this your first time in Spain? What do you think about the Spanish crowd? What do expect from them?
If you look on the tour dates you can see we've been many times. I don't expect people to do anything! Sorry this is a weird question.

What are your plans for this current year 2016 and next 2017? We assume that you will touring around clubs and festivals. Can you advance anything to us? Any important event?
I have no idea. I don't plan my life a year in advance.

Do you think the digital world will end with music as we know it today? What do you think is the future of music?
You already know the answer to this question. It's all stolen on the you tube, Pandora, Spotify ect. It will be difficult to have any kind of career if artists are not compensated. If you read the articles these entities has strong lobbiest shutting down any change. These laws were written in 1990s! Can't pay artists .00007 and expect quality music. Again and again the same thing these streaming platforms do just fine- screw everyone else!

What is your best memory about music?
Not possible to narrow it down to one answer.

How is a normal day in the life of a member of The Warlocks?
We all work and play music when we can.

What do you think about the current economic and social situation in the World in general?

Oh boy if only I had time for a real answer here. It's the same thing over and over. The people at the top get everything and the rest of just work to stay alive. It's not getting any better and every country will have similar problems. Shelter, jobs, wealth equality - it's a messed up world.
