God Save The Queen (DSR) repite en Europa de la mano de la
promotora 'Remember Minds' esta vez
con la tournée mundial "The Show Must Go On", con
una ambiciosa producción, para un grandioso espectáculo que recopilará los
Greatest Hits de los rockeros británicos. Se trata de un espectacular show en
directo, con la recopilación de los mayores éxitos de la banda de Freddie Mercury, y que sorprenderá muy
gratamente a todos los fans de Queen.
La banda viene precedida por el éxito de la anterior Gira
Española en 2013, en la que su show fue visto en ocho ciudades por más de
40.000 espectadores, y con un éxito rotundo de crítica y público.
La banda tributo de origen argentino está apadrinada por
el secretario personal de Freddie
Mercury, Peter Freestone, y
también por la madre de Mercury, Jer Bulsara.
El currículum de God
Save The Queen cuenta con momentos imborrables como el de haber sido
elogiados por la madre de Freddie
Mercury durante la celebración del Freddie
Mercury Memorial Day en Montreux en el 2006. Y otro de los momentos más
emocionantes para el grupo fue cuando Brian
May, el guitarrista de la banda original, los sorprendió mientras ensayaban
para un show ya que quería conocerlos personalmente y darles su beneplácito.
Tanto Brian May
(guitarrista de la banda original), Jer
Bulsara (madre de Freddie), Peter Freestone (secretario personal de Freddie), Jacky Smith
(presidenta del fan- club oficial de Queen),
y Jim Beach (empresario de Queen), reconocieron publicamente que GSTQ / DSR es la banda que mejor
tributo rinde a Queen.
Con el legendario sonido original y la impresionante
semejanza física y vocal de PABLO PADÍN
con Freddie Mercury, el show hace
revivir a los espectadores los momentos más importantes de la historia musical
de la mítica banda londinense. Aquellos que jamás tuvieron la oportunidad de
disfrutar de Queen en directo no
deben perderse este emocionante espectáculo que los hará vibrar, como si
estuvieran viendo a la banda original.

Creo que es obvio, pero ¿por qué el nombre de God
Save the Queen?
Cuando
empezamos con todo esto, tuvimos que elegir un nombre al igual que cualquier
otra banda, y pensamos que esta frase tenía mucha fuerza. Expresa un gran deseo
de mantener vivo Queen, y eso es lo que hacemos con este tributo.
I think it's obvious, but, why the name
God Save The Queen?
When we started with all this, we had to chose a name, like any other
band, and we thought that this phrase had a lot of strength. It express a great
wish to keep Queen alive, and that’s what we do with this tribute.
God Save The Queen es una banda tributo a hacer
versiones de Queen. ¿Por qué este y no otro grupo?
No
podía ser de otra manera. Éramos cuatro fans de Queen dispuestos a tocar su
música. No nos decidimos a hacer una banda para tocar Queen, existimos como God
Save the Queen por Queen.
God Save The Queen is a
tribute band doing versions of Queen. Why this and not another group?
It couldn’t be any other way. We were four Queen
fans willing to play their music. We didn’t decide as a band to play Queen, we
exist as God Save the Queen because of Queen.
¿Habéis pensando en escribir vuestras propias
canciones aunque sean del mismo estilo?
Lo
pensamos hace algunos años, pero nos dimos cuenta de que hemos llegado a un
punto donde todo es tan similar a los originales que nada extra distorsionaría
la fantasía estar viendo lo real.
Have you written your own
songs to play in the same style?
We thought about that some years ago, but we
realised that we have reached to a point were everything is so similar to the
originals that anything extra would distort the fantasy of being watching the
real thing.
¿Quién decide qué canciones tocar? ¿Cómo trabajáis
las canciones con la banda?
Los
cuatro juntos discutamos todo lo que ponemos o sacamos en el espectáculo. En
general, el trabajo se ha llevado a cabo desde principios de año, que es cuando
decidimos la lista de canciones, el vestuario y todo lo relacionado la gira del
año.
Cuando
queremos incluir una canción nueva, tenemos que ensayarla durante algún tiempo,
para conseguir que suene bien, y encontrar los mejores arreglos de voces.
Algunas canciones salen muy fácilmente, pero algunas, como Bohemian Rhapsody, ha
llevado meses y mucho esfuerzo.
Who decides what songs to
play? How do you work the songs with the band?
The four of us discuss together everything we put or
take out of a show. In general, that work take place at the beginning of the
year when we decide the set list, the costumes and everything related to to
that years tour.
When we want to include a new song, we have to
rehearsal for some time, to get it sound properly and to find the best voices
arrangements. Some songs come out very easily, but some, like Bohemian
Rhapsody, has taken months and lots of effort.
¿Qué vamos a ver y disfrutar en vuestros conciertos en España?
Este
año hemos preparado algunas nuevas canciones diferentes de varias partes de la
historia de Queen. Hemos incluido algunos oldies
como “Fat bottomed girls”, “Save me and
Killer Queen”,... Pero también algunas canciones de los últimos discos
de Queen, en los que no han girado, por lo que algunas canciones como “Headlong”,
“The show must go on” o “I want it all”,
que nunca había sido interpretados en directo por Queen, por lo menos, antes de
que Freddie muriera.
What will we see and enjoy in
your live Spanish concerts?
This year we’ve prepared some different new songs
from several parts of Queen history. We have included some oldies like Fat bottomed
girls, Save me and Killer Queen. But also some songs from the latest’s Queen
albums, where they were not touring, so some songs like Headlong, The show must
go on or I want it all had never been performed live by Queen, at least before
Freddie died.
¿Vais a editar un CD o DVD en un futuro cercano?
¿Está en vuestra mente? ¿Cuáles son los planes de God Save The Queen para lo
que queda de 2014 y primeros de 2015?
La
idea de realizar DVD de nuestros conciertos o giras siempre está en la mente.
Pero en los últimos años hemos estado trabajando tanto, que no hemos de
encontrar el tiempo para trabajar en eso como nos gustaría.
Este
año hemos hecho una gran gira por el norte y sur de América, que llegó hasta
España y Portugal en junio, y hemos estado en Rusia últimamente. También hemos
estado haciendo el “Queen Symphony Show”
en nuestro país (Argentina) y Chile, con más de 50 músicos y cantantes sobre el
escenario.
Actualmente
estamos de gira por EE.UU., Canadá y México. Nuestro siguiente gran gira será en
España, donde vamos a estar parte de octubre y noviembre, y estaremos de vuelta
en Rusia en diciembre.
Will you edit a CD or DVD in
the near future? Is it in your mind? What are the plans of God Save The Queen
for the rest of 2014 and early 2015?
The idea of releasing DVDs from our concerts or
tours is always in mind. But in the last years we have been working so much
that we haven’t find the time to work on that as we’d like.
This year we’ve been already touring a lot in North
and South America, we came to Spain and Portugal in June and we’ve been in
Russia lately. We’ve also been doing the Queen Symphony Show in our country and
Chile, with more than 50 musicians and singers on stage.
Nowadays we are touring USA, Canada and Mexico. Next
big tour in Spain is going to take part of October and November, and we’ll be
back in Russia in December.
¿Crees que el mundo digital va a terminar con la
música tal como la conocemos hoy en día? ¿Cuál cree usted que es el futuro de
la música?
No
lo creo. Podría cambiar la forma en que consumimos la música grabada, pero el
directo siempre será una atracción. Cuando una gran cantidad de personas se
reúnen en un mismo lugar, hay una gran vibración que no puede suceder "on
line".
No
sé sobre el futuro de la música. Cuanta más rica y diversa, mejor para mi.
Do you think the digital world
will end with music as we know it today? What do you think is the future of
music?
I don’t think so. It could change the way we consume
recorded music, but live performance will always be an attraction. When a lot
of people get together on a same place, there’s a great vibration that can’t
happen “online”.
I don’t know about the future of music. The more
diverse and rich it gets would be great for me.
¿Cuál es tu mejor recuerdo de la música?
Tengo
un montón de buenos recuerdos sobre la música y sobre la vida de ser músico.
Una de las cosas más emocionantes, es estar frente a miles de personas cantando,
y conectar con lo que estás tocando, cualquiera que sea la música. Somos muy
afortunados de poder experimentar eso en casi todos los conciertos.
What is your best memory about
music?
I have plenty of good memories about music and about
the life of being a musician. One of the most exiting things is to be in front
of thousands of people singing and connecting with what you’re playing,
whatever music it is. We’re very lucky to be able to experiment that in almost
every concert.
¿Por qué crees que existe este auge de las bandas
tributo a grupos de todos los estilos y épocas?
Tal
vez es porque hay un montón de gente dispuesta a disfrutar de sus bandas
favoritas en directo. Hay muchas emociones y sentimientos involucrados en esto.
Si usted acepta este tipo de juego en el que pretendemos ser Queen, The
Beatles, Elvis o cualquiera que te guste, y finges estar viendo el verdadero
artista, seguramente has pasado una noche muy especial.
Why do you think that there is
this boom in tribute bands to groups of all styles and times?
Maybe that’s because there’s a lot of people willing
to enjoy their favourite bands live. There are great emotions and feeling involved
in this. If you accept this kind of game where we pretend to be Queen or The
Beatles, Elvis or whatever you love, and you pretend to be watching the real
artist, you will surely spent a very special night.
¿Qué piensa usted acerca de la situación económica
actual en Europa y el mundo en general?
No
tengo ni idea. Sólo soy un músico.
What do you think about
current economic situation in Europe and World in general?
I have no clue. I’m just a musician.
