THE INTERVIEW

Do you remember still why the name The Wailers?
Yes I do, my father Aston “Familyman” Barrett kept the name The Wailers after Robert Nesta Marley passed away in 1981, and passed down to his son Aston Barrett Jr.
I will never make this name and the music this name represents die. I've seen my father suffer through the struggle and for me with this gift from the most high, I know it’s what I must do this name Wailers really have a lot of weight on it, it even made problems with my family which I try and do my best. But this work is Jah works and I can’t fail the fans and the fans to come, because the world needs this music for therapy.

The Wailers is one of the most influential bands in the world music, but what are or were your influences to make music that you do?
My music came from the most high, My musician influence came from members of Bob Marley and The Wailers, my Uncle Carlton Barrett, my Father Aston “Familyman” Barrett and Grandfather Joe Higgs.
My other influences are most definitely, Jazz and Funk music.

Next year marks 55 years since The Wailers began as a band. Any special celebration for these 55 years?
A new album will be with the fans very very soon.

Perhaps that Legend is your best album to date. Did you think they are making one of the best records in the history of music?

Yes I do, this music is for all ages, and it represents Peace, Love & Unity

Many things have happened in The Wailers' life. What has changed in the sound of The Wailers over the years?
The messages have grown for this time.
Stand Firm In a Babylon is our new message, because you have good and bad people that works in this system, so we need to give the energy to the good people, so they can do the righteous work of positive vibration, which is the work of the mist high, and to also give hope to the bad one dem, so they will see the light and live in love.

What are you going to offer in your live concerts around the world with this Legend Tour 2017” and what do you hope from the people in your shows?
We hope this music will take all your pains away, from this life, and the past life, we want the fans and fans to be, together and be a part of the Wailers family.

Do you have any surprise or any plans alternative to this year 2017 and next 2018?  Can you anticipate anything to us?
New Album

Do you think the digital world will end with music as we know it today? What do you think is the future of music?
We will always be there. Reggae music has no category; it’s not Old or New, its spiritual music from God. The most high have no end, this music is so powerful even the once that don't believe in anything get attracted our music, why? Because it’s not a normal thing. As brother Bob Marley said, this music will get bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger until it finds it rightful people and then it gets bigger again.

What is your best memory about music?
Love, and Unity, it gives me strength and hope.

What do you think about the current economic situation in Spain, Jamaica, Europe and World in general?
Everything about the whole world is a circle, each time the energy shift we all shift with it, If the energy shift and your still the same, that’s is where destruction comes in. We’re all here for a reason, and that reason is to learn from our mistakes to go to the next level of life.
