El  duro, fuerte sonido impactante de la banda genovesa, Gandhi's Gunn (Hobo, voces; Scazzi, guitarra ; Maso, bajo; Andre, batería), es intensamente inspirado en el sonido de la fuerza de la primer corriente estadounidense de Stoner rock , como Corrosion of Conformity, Fu Manchu y Clutch, mientras que con exploran frecuentemente otros territorios más visionarios y psicodélicos.

The hard, strong sound impact of the Genoese (Italy) band, Gandhi's Gunn (Hobo, vocals; Scazzi, guitar; Maso, bass; Andre, drums), is intensely inspired by the forcible sound of the

first American Stoner Rock undercurrent, such as Corrosion of Conformity, Fu Manchu and Clutch, while frequently exploring more visionary and psychedelic territories.

Gandhi's Gunn han tenido dos años de intensa actividad en vivo sobre el escenario con bandas de fama mundial  tales como Church of Misery (Japón), Los Natas (Argentina), Acid King (USA), Atomic Bitchwax (USA), 16 (USA), Nadja (Canadá), Amen Ra (Bélgica) y Clutch (USA), Unsane (USA), Big Business (USA) y muchos más.

Considered a point of reference on the Italian Stoner Rock scene, Gandhi's Gunn have had two years of intense live activity on stage with bands of worldwide fame such as Church of Misery (Japan), Los Natas (Argentina), Acid King (USA), Atomic Bitchwax (USA), 16 (USA), Nadja (Canada), Amen Ra (Belgium) and Clutch (USA), Unsane (Usa), Big Business (USA) & more.

En abril de 2010 lanzaron una primera edición limitada del álbum "Thirtyeahs" en el sello Taxi Driver Records. Se entregaron 300 copias numeradas a mano en un pack de vinilo+CD. Dos años más tarde publicaron "The Longer The Beard The Harder The Sound", en vinilo, CD y cassette.

En octubre de 2012 Gandhi's Gunn cambió su nombre por el de Isaak y firman con Small Stone Records.

In April 2010 they released their first limited edition album "Thirtyeahs" on Taxi Driver Records label. Issued in 300 hand-numbered copies in a vinyl + CD package. Two years later they published "The Longer The Beard The Harder The Sound", in vinyl, cd and cassette.

In October 2012 Gandhi's Gunn switched their name to Isaak and sign to Small Stone Records.

¿Por qué el nombre de Isaak?

Isaak es un nombre. Podría referirse a un personaje de la Biblia, o el protagonista de una película ‘blaxploitation’ (cine negro americano) de los años 70. O podría ser el apellido de Chris. Pero el hecho del asunto es que es un nombre de gran impacto. Es muy sencillo y rápido como Torche, Clutch, Melvins, Fugazi.

Why the name Isaak for the band?

Isaak is a name. It could refer to a Bible character, or to the protagonist of a blaxploitation film of the 70s. Or it could be Chris' surname. But the fact of the matter is that it's a name of great impact. It's simple and quick as Torche, Clutch, Melvins, Fugazi.

La música de Isaak me recuerda al Rock los 70 y primeros 80, pero con la fuerza del Stoner Rock del siglo XXI ¿Cuáles son realmente vuestras influencias musicales?

Estamos influenciados por la música desde el hard rock de Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, Cream, Grand Funk y Thin Lizzy hasta el heavy metal de Iron Maiden y Metallica, pero sobre todo escuchamos bandas underground que están claramente influenciados por los años 70 y 80. ¿Quién toca la guitarra haciendo rock sin estar influenciado por sus mejores décadas? Cuando empezamos juntos hemos querido reproducir el sonido de las primeras bandas de stoner rock como Fu Manchu, Clutch, Corrosion Of Conformity, Kyuss y Orange Goblin. Nuestras influencias han aumentado desde entonces y ahora son muy amplias: Melvins, Big Business, Torche, Baroness, Kylesa, Graveyard, Red Fang, Karma To Burn, Lo Pan, Wo Fat, Carcass, Entombed, Eyehategod, Russian Circles, Tom Waits, Om, Sleep, Saint Vitus, Pink Floyd. Cualquier sonido que nos puede sugerir algo para una nueva canción.

The Music of Isaak reminds me to the Rock of the seventies years and early eighties but with the force of the Stoner Rock of the XXI century, what are your really musical influences?

We're influenced by music from the hard rock of Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, Cream, Grand Funk and Thin Lizzy to the heavy metal of Iron Maiden and Metallica, but above all we listen to underground bands that are clearly influenced by the 70s and 80s. Who plays guitar driven rock without being influenced by its best decades? When we started together we wanted to play the sound of  early stoner rock bands as Fu Manchu, Clutch, Corrosion Of Conformity, Kyuss and Orange Goblin. Our influences have increased since then and are now very wide: Melvins, Big Business, Torche, Baroness, Kylesa, Graveyard, Red Fang, Karma To Burn, Lo Pan, Wo Fat, Carcass, Entombed, Eyehategod, Russian Circles, Tom Waits, Om, Sleep, Saint Vitus, Pink Floyd. Any sound can suggest us something for a new song.

¿Por qué tituláis The Longer The Beard The Harder The Sound a último próximo disco?

Debido la barba es una especie de cliché común dentro de este género: sólo piensa en Red Fang! No es más que ironía. Todo el mundo ama las barbas y todos somos más o menos barbudos en la banda: Somos italianos y peludos! El objetivo es dar la idea de que somos una banda de larga barba como ZZ Top!

Why you titled "The Longer The Beard The Harder The Sound" to your last disc?

Because beard is a kind of cliche within this genre: only think of Red Fang! It's only irony. Everyone loves beards and we're all more or less beardy in the band: we're Italian and hairy! The aim is giving the idea that we are a long bearded band like ZZ Top!

¿Qué vamos a encontrar en vuestro nuevo álbum " The Longer The Beard The Harder The Sound "?

Un montón honesta de canciones ‘headbanging’ (movimiento violento de la cabeza al ritmo de la música) y viajes psicodélicos.

What's we will  found in your last album, “The Longer The Beard The Harder The Sound”?

An honest bunch of headbanging songs and psychedelic trips.

Creo que esta es la primera vez que actuáis en concierto en España, ¿qué vais a ofrecer en vivo, y qué esperáis del público español en sus espectáculos?

Nos encanta los conciertos donde la gente “crowd surf” (llevar en volandas en un concierto) y “stage dive“ (lanzarse desde el escenario) por todas partes, como se hacía en los 90. Queremos que las personas sudorosas “headbanging” (muevan sus cabezas al ritmos de la música) y se diviertan delante de nosotros. Y si nos damos cuenta de que necesitan un poco de descanso, comenzamos a tocar nuestras canciones psicodélicas.

I think this is your first time in concert around Spain, what are you going to offer in your live concert, and what do you hope from the Spanish public in your shows?

We love wide gigs where people crowd surf and stage dive everywhere, as in the 90s. We want sweaty headbanging people having fun in front of us. And if we realize they need a little rest, we start playing our psychedelic songs.

¿Hay alguna sorpresa o planes alternativos para vuestra gira de 2013?, ¿y para 2014? ¿Algo que podáis anticiparnos? ¿Cuándo un nuevo disco?

Hace un par de meses nos robaron casi todos nuestros instrumentos en nuestro local de ensayo, mientras preparábamos nuestro nuevo álbum. Nos quedamos totalmente desolados. Y también tuvimos que retrasar las sesiones de grabación. Nos llevó un poco de tiempo para levantarnos de nuevo, y ahora estamos girando mucho con el fin de continuar donde lo dejamos, a pesar de esto, aún tenemos la esperanza de lanzar nuestro nuevo álbum muy pronto en 2014.

Do you have any surprise or any plans alternative to this tour for 2013? And for 2014? Can you anticipate anything to us? When a new album?

A couple of months ago we got robbed of almost all our instruments in our rehearsal room while we were preparing our new album. We were absolutely devastated. And we also had to delay our recording sessions. It took a little while to get up again and we're now touring a lot in order to pick up where we left off but although we hope to release our new album very soon in 2014.

¿Pensáis que el mundo digital va a acabar con el mundo de la música tal y como lo conocemos hoy en día? Cuál es el futuro del músico?

Es una pregunta difícil. Dirijo una tienda de discos (Taxi Driver Record Store) y la mayoría de lo que vendo son vinilos. La múisca siempre existirá. Los formatos y cómo los sellos discográficos tratar de apoderarse de nuestro dinero sólo va a cambiar. ¿Mejor o peor? Cada formato tiene sus ventajas y desventajas, y cada oyente encontrará su favorito. Hoy en día se puede escuchar un disco a través de Youtube, Bandcamp, Mediafire, Torrent, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, CD, cassette, reel-to-reel, vinilo. Lo realmente importante es que la música sigue creciendo junto con las innovaciones.

Do you think the digital world will end with music as we know it today? What do you think is the future of music?

It's a hard question. I run a record store (Taxi Driver Record Store) and I sell mostly vinyls. Music will ever exist. Formats and how labels will try and grab our money will only change. Better or worse? Every format has its advantages and disadvantages and every listener will find his favourite one. Nowadays you can listen to a record via youtube, bandcamp, mediafire, torrent, itunes, spotify, amazon, CD, cassette, reel-to-reel, vinyl. The real important thing is that music keeps growing together with those innovations.

¿Cuál es vuestro mejor recuerdo en el mundo de la música?

Es fácil elegir uno, teniendo en cuenta que cada día la música nos da grandes recuerdos para el futuro. Como banda, podría decir la oportunidad de recorrer todo el mundo, de tener seguidores, y la relación con las otras bandas. Personalmente, creo que cada vez que escucho un nuevo álbum es una especie de emoción, como también conocer nuevas bandas o ir a conciertos en directo. Todos somos grandes amantes de la música, así que es difícil separar la música de nuestras propias vidas.

What is your best memory about music?

It's easy to choose one, considering that every day music gives us great memories for the future. As a band, I could say the opportunity to tour around the world, to have followers, and the relationship with the other bands. Personally I think that every time I listen to a new album it's a kind of emotion, as also knowing new bands or going to live concerts. We're all great music lovers so it's difficult to separate music from our own lives.

¿Qué piensas de la situación económica actual en Europa y en el mundo en general?

Después de 20 años, Italia está todavía bajo la forma de pensar "Berlusconiana". Sería mejor dejar esa enfermedad y comenzar a comunicarse con el resto del mundo. Berlusconi ha creado un mundo virtual superficial lleno de falsa felicidad para los italianos en el que es muy difícil de hacer algo. Por desgracia, es una condición de "no-justicia" que siempre ha existido en Italia especialmente. La gente tiene que luchar para hacer valer su posición. Es la única manera de no ser aplastadas por la opresión y la explotación.

What do you think of the current economic situation in Europe, and in the world in general?

After 20 years Italy is still under "Berlusconian" way of thinking. It would be better for us to stop this disease and start communicating with the rest of the world. Berlusconi has created a superficial virtual world full of false happiness for Italian people where it's very difficult to do everything. Unfortunately it's a "no-justice" condition that has always existed in Italy expecially. People must fight to assert their position. It's the only way not to be crushed by oppression and exploitation.

… Un libro?:

La conjura de los necios de John Kennedy Toole. Una tragicomedia sobre los Estados Unidos en los años sesenta. Una historia de un personaje gawker/genio, una combinación entre San Tomás de Aquino y Don Quijote.

... A book?:

A Confederacy of Dunces by Toole John Kennedy. A tragi-comedy about America in the Sixties. A history of a gawker/genius character, a combination between San Tommaso d'Aquino and Don Chisciotte.

…Una película?:

Mash de Robert Altman. Me gusta la forma irónica de abordar los asuntos "serios" que hablamos en nuestra música. Un tema fuerte como la guerra de Vietnam desde el punto de vista auto-irónico y a veces surrealista. Una forma diferente de hacer una película de guerra / una forma diferente de tocar Stoner Rock.

... A movie?:

Mash by Robert Altman. It suits me in the ironical way to approach the "serious" matters we talk about in our music. A strong subject as the Vietnam War from an auto-ironic and sometimes surreal point of view. A different way to make a war film / a different way to play Stoner Rock.

Eremite. Tienes que escucharle. Es de Génova también, y es una banda y un solista al mismo tiempo. Su poderosos álbum de debut se titula Dragonarius.

... A group or soloist?:

Eremite. You must listen to him. He's from Genova too, and he's a band and a soloist at the same time. His mighty debut album is titled "Dragonarius".
